Lots of Love

You can't really make out these army men's faces in this picture, but they are scowling and appear about as unfriendly as plastically possible. You must understand this to get the full effect of this story...
This morning Gemma and I were enjoying our girl bonding time while Zane was at preschool. We like to read books and play with her baby dolls during this time. As was expected, she brought me a book as soon as the boys headed out the door. We read "My Speedy Turtle" about 10 times. When she had had her fill of this story, she held her arms just right and began to rock them back and forth, as though rocking a baby. This is the sign that it is baby doll time. I smiled and told her to go get one of her babies.
She returned with the army guys. I'm not sure why. This has not happened before. It could be that they were first available on her trip to her bedroom. Or it could be, she just had an uninterrupted chance to play with these army men, whom are usually off limits when Zane is home. Whatever the case, she gave one to me and she kept one for herself. She rocked the little army man, gave him kisses, pointed out his eyes, nose and mouth, and tickled his belly. Then traded me, to love on the other little army man. I was having trouble keeping a straight face.
I'm so used to seeing these army men thrown in all directions with many war time sound effects. I have to think these little army men enjoyed getting a little love this morning.

She's getting so big! I'm sure you already know this, but I see some of that Zane orneriness twinkling in her eyes...!
